Tally-ho Future Health Care
What a few days!!
The trip to London started with an early taxi ride to the airport. Usually I am awake before 7 am, but 5 am!!! This was a bit early for me to be making any type of trip, whether it be train, plane, or automobile (great movie reference). Yes maybe I am being a bit of a diva and I know there are a lot of people that get up that early every morning to get to their job, but that is not my fault, they for sure need some smart breaks.
The flight to Helsinki was a yawn. Quick and easy. Now the flight to London was a pleasure, seeing as the plane had some really great movies. The selection of the movies was fantastic. All these movies to choose from and I chose one of my favorites, the Great Gatsby. Yeah maybe this movie is a bit older but I could care less. It is class! If they had reruns of United games I would have watched those. This flight was very easy and actually got a little shut eye as well.
I arrived to London early. Very early and of course it was raining and I didn’t have an umbrella. Getting there early in the morning was actually a good thing. After checking into the hotel I decided to have a look about. The rain had stopped and was now a perfect time to check out the scenery. I was meeting Olli Tikkanen from Fibion Inc later that evening for dinner so I had plenty of time to jaunt around with an English pep in my step.
It became apparent to me that the location I was staying in was very posh. There is nothing like heading out and seeing only Range Rovers and Porsche’s around every corner. I felt home 😁. After asking the lady in the lobby where the convention center was I started my 5 min walk down the road. Well, no, it was more of a 25 min walk and was way down the road. Maybe the British walk faster than incredibly fit and handsome American athletes, I dunno 😎. The convention center was the Olympia and was enormous. It was nice to see the venue where I will go to battle in the morning. You know, checking out the pitch, getting used to the smell of the grass (carpet).
Dinner with Olli was great. We had burgers and a beer. I have to keep to a strict athlete diet while i’m in London so I only had one beer. Usually I would crush maybe three or four when i’m in a new place and trying to get over the nervousness I had because of what the morning was bringing. I thought that this trip was going to be hard seeing as I have never met Olli before and we have only talked via email and phone prior to this. I now have a slight man crush. Well I wouldn’t say that but he was really helpful in my first go at conventions. He has an amazing story and works incredibly hard to grow his business. There is nothing better than meeting like minded individuals, he does have a PhD, so maybe we are not completely like minded but close enough. After a few hours it was time to call it a night and prepare myself mentally for the big event in the morning. Smart Break was ready for the Future Health Care expo, and we were going to bring the noise! And exercises of course.
More to come.
Over and out!
