Step by Step Guide To A Successful Thanksgiving
Don’t Let Thanksgiving Get The Best Of You.
We all play a Thanksgiving Day role
When it comes to celebrating Thanksgiving we all have a role we play. Hopefully you’re role is the family member who just has to show up. All you have to do is wake up in the morning, put your clothes on, and head out the door. Simple. At most you might have to bring a side, but you probably just bought it from the store like the rest of us. If you’re not that family member then you’re probably the host.
If you’re hosting that means you’ve probably been busy cleaning up your house this past week getting everything spotless. Working so hard to make it appear as if though nobody even lives there. (If you have NOT seen the video Company Is Coming, you must click this link because it’s very relatable). Once your house starts looking like “Disney On Ice”, Thanksgiving Day has arrived and its officially time to spend your entire morning preparing all the food. Now hopefully you force all your guest to bring some sort of dish so you don’t have to do it all. If you do do all the cooking, that is amazing and we applaud you. But finally once everybody has arrived and you’ve finished cooking, all you want to do is sit down, eat, and watch some football or the dog show. (We all have that one breed of dog we love watching).
Enjoy the good things
There is always a bit of chaos around the holidays. It’s a time of the year where your stress level increases and patience decreases. Preparing a meal for 20 family members, cleaning the house, trying to keep the dog happy, family happy, and yourself happy can get a bit overwhelming. So in order to have successful, stress-free thanksgiving we have put together a step-by-step guide for you to have a wonderful day.
Our step by step guide on a successful Thanksgiving!
Step 1: Start your morning off with something active. Wake up, have your cup of coffee and then go for a walk. Or maybe you’re participating in your local Turkey-Trot. Whatever it is you’re doing, make sure to get some fresh air before you start doing anything else. You’ll be happy about it later.
Step 2: Time to start preparing food, or well depending on what your role is start preparing yourself for the day.
Step 3: Take a break! If you’re hosting, stop and take a stretch, chat with a family member or play with your dog. (Let them know they are good enough to be in the Dog Show). If you’re commuting and stuck in the car for awhile, make sure to make stops. (Yes that makes your trip a little longer, but your body will thank you.)
Step 4: This step is for everybody. Sit down with each other and say one thing you’re thankful for! And once everybody has said what they are thankful for, then stuff your face.
Step 5: SIT BACK, RELAX, AND ENJOY THE DAY! It’s not everyday you get to be around those you care most about.
Before you go….
Remember that the holidays are about celebrating family, friends, and traditions. Spend your day sharing happy stories, laughing harder than you ever have, and enjoy each other’s company.
Enjoy your day!
