Punk’d: Office Ninja
It is now Wednesday and I have been the victim to an office prankster. Four days now every time I leave my office, which is a supply closet, I return to discover something in the office was not how I left it. Who is doing this? It is almost like Raisoft has an employee that doubles as a silent ninja. Is this getting to me, no. But I need to retaliate and it needs to be very strategic. I don’t mean putting post-it notes all over their cubicle.
Yes, I have my suspicions on who it is but I am not officially sure who it is yet, but I am going all in on who I think the culprit is. Collateral damage is what you could call this. Lets say I prank this “silent ninja” and it turns out it wasn’t him, oops. That’s just the name of the game. Now, I will have started this snowball effect that ensures no one in the office is safe. Is this the best tactic?……YES.
1st prank- The office or “supply closet” that I am currently caged in is not as bad as you would think. It is very spacious and has 4 small thin windows so that I occasionally can peek out at the world, like a groundhog checking for his shadow. In this office we have our own thermostat and it can get very frigid in this room. Ice cold! The silent ninja set the temp on the snowflake symbol, which I’m guessing is the coldest it can get. This happened once or twice that day. This was just the tip of the iceberg.
2nd prank- Our computers are very well put together and customized how we want of course. But all of this changes if you don’t do the logical thing to your personal electronics, like lock it. Yes, ameteur move I made and I paid the price. I come back from getting coffee and my screen is upside down. At the time I LoL’d. This was really funny because of the inconvenience of not being able to just hit ctrl+alt, and up arrow. So I just worked upside down that day out of principal. Kidding I changed it immediately. Game on silent ninja!
3rd prank- This one was very funny in that I was gone again and did all the necessary things like lock my computer and hide all my valuables (candy). I also set up a camera to catch this silent ninja. I tried hiding it behind some pom poms in the corner of the room. Why do I have pom poms? That’s for another time. But this camera was great at first. Unfortunately, someone spotted it and was a huge fail. So I just had to go with a hope and a prayer. I came back from lunch with a monitor from the 80’s. I went from the newest of the new HP monitor to Bill Gate’s beta desktop. Really funny. But not so funny carrying this 1000 pound machine down a flight of steps to where it came from.
Mistake 1 from ninja- This computer was huge and heavy. Sooooo…this silent ninja has to be a larger person and eats lunch in the office. This has now given me a smaller pool to choose from.
4th prank- This time my poor keyboard was collateral damage in this office prank. I love my keyboard, it doesn’t complain when I drop cookie crumbs on it or have chocolate fingers when I type. But this day I got a new keyboard that was extremely old and had very different keys.
What will the next prank be, only time will tell. Will I get revenge? Yes of course but I will be very methodical about this. The atmosphere we have in the office is very friendly and almost like a family. This stems from our very social coffee breaks we have here at Raisoft. Now, can we accredit these social bonding breaks to Smart Break? Well yes it is a direct outcome of our product. When the office is socially strong it is tough to find a bad day because everyone is a person of support.
Have a great week and remember to take Smart Breaks during the day!
