Oh boy, what an Easter! I think I need maybe 11 smart breaks to help me get over the amount of chocolate I stole from my delightfully loud children. They really didn’t need to eat 22 chocolate eggs and two chocolate bunnies. I did. Of course I didn’t tell them, I simply tricked them into believing that they didn’t get that much, like taking candy from a baby, or a toddler for that matter.
Easter break couldn’t come at a better time. I needed a re boost for the action packed week ahead of me and for Smart Break. You see, we applied for the PITCH competition today for Collision Conference, what a feeling. The emotions going through my extremely complex mind is overwhelming. Just to think, three months in and I am at odds with whether I want Smart Break to make the competition or not. If we do, fantastic, that will mean that we actually fall into a category which the judges see potential. This also means that I will have to pitch the product in front of Shark Tankesque judges panel. Eeek. I don’t think I will be to nervous, only because they serve alcohol at this event and I am sure the pitch will go from me talking about the product to going down a rabbit hole about how Charleston is growing too fast and back to how United just don’t have the title winning quality of 5 yesteryear’s. Like I said, complex mind. My mother calls it A.D.D. but I simply tell her I have more of a “beautiful mind” situation going on.
And of course if we don’t make it into the competition, it doesn’t mean anything, we still have a great product that will spread like the flu at a daycare. This trip will be a great start for Smart Break and I think that the laid back style and the shear size of the event we will get best of both worlds. We only have three more weeks til we embark on this exploration to the US and we are excited.
In the mean time we will still continue to grow and add more wood to our fire. For one, we hired an American named Chelsy Swackhamer. Already she came in and proved why she was a smart hire. I have never claimed to be a great social media person and I think Johan and I decided that maybe, just maybe, we should take Chelsy under the Smart Break wing and let her take over the social media and marketing.
Whew, I don’t know if I have the focus and frequency to post stuff about Smart Break every day and keep people informed. Don’t get me wrong, I am very qualified to post pics of my kids and wife and also blog about what is on my mind, but Chelsy goes above and beyond with the ideas she has, exciting times ahead.
So…..I have three weeks to memorize a pitch that will knock the judges socks off. No problem. I am a pro at winging it. I had a thesis presentation that I prepared for maybe 10 minutes the night before, totally winged it. Aced it!
