3 Ways to keep Happy at Work
Yes, it is possible to be happy at work. Of course if you really do not like your job the only thing I would say is, tough luck, I love my job. It’s easy for me to say I love this job because I never had a job to hate before this, so I am not sure what I should or shouldn’t like. But today I will talk about 3 ways to keep you smiling throughout the day.
One is candy. Yes it is true that candy does make most, if not all people happy. I once heard a saying that a twix a day keeps the doctor away. I think it has something to do with the caramel. I think caramel has good sugar in it, like honey 😁. Here at the Smart Break office we make sure there is a candy bowl in the office open for everyone to enjoy. We tried to make a rule that if you take a candy you must do a Smart Break exercise. But then it got a little irritating people coming into our office and just working out. So now we like to please the crowd and make it a free for all. Except the Canadian guy in our office. He is not allowed, you know, becasue of the whole US v Canada thing. He gets it. But I have to say I have been to very few offices and those offices seem really happy due to candy being around every corner. May not be the healthiest way to promote happiness but it’s better than booze at the office.
Two is coffee breaks. Yes coffee breaks are what I generally can’t wait for. After completing our Smart Break, because that is needed before coffee, we enjoy small talk between employees. This is the time where we can hear about what everyone is working on or having trouble with and we give support and encouragement. For some it is a good time to have a good laugh. We have siblings here at the office and they usually have a good laugh at each other’s expense. Classic sibling rivalry. Lately we have been discussing the World Cup and how I had a great table configured and then all of my teams blew it. Big time. I don’t want to get in to that because then this blog will turn into a novel about how bad some of the teams were. But these coffee breaks tend to get carried away and they could last anywhere between 15- 40 minutes. I love these because you never know what you will get from the break!
Third is volleyball. Let me clarify that I mean volleyball during the workday. Yes you heard me correctly. Beach volleyball was on today’s agenda. An hour of beach volley in the sun on a lovely day is something to get everyone in a good mood. Seeing as most of Raisoft is on vacation, the few unlucky ones here at work decided to have a day at the beach and get some fun volleyball in. Fun is a loosely used term today because today was very competitive. And yes that same Canadian was there and he was across the court playing against Chelsy and I who were representing Ol Glory! Naturally we won by a large margin. After a few sets we combined the North American countries to form a dominant volley team. Bump, set , spike. Total dominance. Leaving the courts on the way back to work there was nothing but smiles and a good feelings.
So what I am saying is that you should always try and keep happy at work and if you follow these simple guides you will never have a frown.
